Guiding Principles

Guiding principles are beliefs and priorities that govern the way StoneBridge Church functions.

Our values represent the “core” of who we are and how we are committed to operate as a community of faith.

People (Grace)

All people regardless of background or lifestyle matter to God and us, especially those far from God. We will love and welcome without prejudice and judgment. (Matthew 9:13, John 3:16, 1 John 3:16-17, Titus 2:11)

Relationships

We are all in need of relationships; a personal relationship with God, meaningful relationships with one another, and impactful relationships with the world. (Matthew 22:36-40, Acts 2:42-47, Matthew 28:16-20)

Excellence

Reflecting the amazing character of God in communicating the timeless message in a relevant method. (Colossians 3:23-24, Ecclesiastes 9:10, Acts 17:27-29)

The Bible

Truth of God’s Word as ultimate and complete authority. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

Life

Caring for the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of people. We will care and protect children, families, and marriages. (Jeremiah 1:5, Ephesians 2:10, Mark 9:36-37, Matthew 19:4-6)

Spiritual Formation (Discipleship)

Helping people take the next steps in their journey toward God through Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 4:11-17, Mark 8:34)

OUR BELIEFS

StoneBridge Church utilizes the Bible as the standard for living and for inspiring people to experience a life changing relationship with God. We believe in sharing our faith in genuine, relevant, and practical ways where people from diverse backgrounds can understand God’s message of truth and hope.

About God

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:26–27, Genesis 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2, 2 Corinthians 13:14

About Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ as the only Son of God, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to Heaven, and in His personal return. Jesus Christ was completely human when he was on earth, but at the same time completely God. He is the reason for bringing people back into a right relationship with their Creator. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we could live life here on earth more abundantly and so we could have eternal life. Matthew 1:22,23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1–5, John 14:10–30, Hebrews 4:14–15, 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, Romans 1:3–4, Acts 1:9–11, 1 Timothy 6:14–15, Titus 2:13

About the Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. He guides believers in understanding the Bible, and provides supernatural help in times of need. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and helps us live a happier and more fulfilling life. Joel 2:28–29, Matthew 3:11, Mark 16:17, Acts 1:5, Acts 2:1–4, Acts 2:17, Acts 2:38–39, Acts 8:14–17, Acts 10:38, Acts 10:44–47, Acts 11:15–17, Acts 19:1–6

About the Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. Human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit wrote it. Because God inspired it, the Bible is His truth and is completely relevant to our daily lives. 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Timothy 1:13, 2 Peter 1:20–21, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 119:160, Psalm 12:6, Proverbs 30:5

About Humanity

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin” and need to be reconciled to God. Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6a, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1–2

About Salvation

We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be reconciled to God. Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8–9, John 14:6, John 1:2, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1, Romans 10:9–10

About Eternity

We were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by rejecting Jesus, or we will exist eternally with God by accepting the forgiveness offered through Jesus. John 3:16, John 14:17, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:17–18, Revelation 20:15, 1 Corinthians 2:7–9

About the Church

The Church is a local community of people who believe in God and the Bible. The church is committed to inspiring people to find a life changing relationship with God as it seeks to bring the gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying God in the earth. Matthew 16:18-19, Matthew 18:15-20, Acts 2:41-47, Acts 5:11-14, Acts 13:1-3, Acts 14:23
